MUS003 – Bodhrán for Beginners
Joan DiBlasi
Beginning Bodhrán will emphasize the basic introductory skills
necessary to begin playing the bodhrán. This
includes holding the drum and stick, playing a basic beat to jigs and
reels, and distinguishing parts of tunes- the A part, B part and
occasionally C and D parts. As the weeks progress emphasis focuses on the
phrases of the tune. A CD of basic tunes used in the class will be given to
each student for practice at home.

MUS004 – Intermediate Bodhrán
Joan DiBlasi
Intermediate Bodhrán will focus on a more dynamic approach to
playing by gaining better control of the stick, more clearly distinguishing
each part of the tune, introducing rolls and other ornaments to enhance the
tune. Jigs and reels will be emphasized. A CD of basic tunes used in the
class will be given to each student for practice at home

Absolute Beginners:
No previous musical training is required. Students first learn to hold the
instrument and play a progression of notes building to simple tunes. Violin

playing simple Irish dance tunes including jigs and Kerry polkas.

MUS011 – Piano Accordion for Beginners
Terry Feeley
Class starts with exercises
in the right hand leading to simple melodies followed by accompaniment with
the bass. Students will also learn to coordinate both hands and the bellows
in playing tunes. Students will also learn to read music.

Beyond

Correct fingering, timing,
accenting, phrasing, chords, and basses will be taught. Faster tunes like
marches, jigs, polkas, and horn pipes will be explored.
